Privacy Policy

How WildTrack collects, uses, and protects your information — jump to any section using the index alongside.

Introduction

WildTrack, Inc. ("WildTrack", "we" or "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it through our compliance with this Privacy Policy. This policy describes the types of information we may collect when you access or use our website, mobile applications, and other business tools and services — including our footprint identification technology and image database — and how we collect, use, maintain, protect, and disclose that information.

This Privacy Policy does not apply to information we collect offline, on any websites you may access through the Service, or that you provide to or is collected by any third party (see How We Collect It below).

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By accessing or using the Service, you agree to it. We may update this policy from time to time, and your continued use after a revision means you accept the changes — so check back periodically.

Information We Collect

We collect several types of personal information from and about users of our Services, directly from you, automatically when you use the Service, and from third parties such as our business partners and service providers.

The personal information we collect may include registration details, information you provide when reporting a problem, transaction details, correspondence, search queries, and anything you post to public areas of the Service ("User Contributions") — which are shared at your own risk, since we can't control how third parties may view them.

  • Identifiers, such as name, postal address, email address, affiliation and/or telephone number
  • Protected characteristics, such as age and gender
  • Sensory information, such as audio, visual, or other similar information
  • Commercial information, such as billing and transaction records
  • Internet or network activity, such as data from server logs, cookies, and similar technologies
  • Geolocation, such as physical location or movements
  • Professional or employment-related information, such as job title and work contact details
  • Inferences we derive from the information above

How We Collect It

When you access and use the Service, we may automatically collect usage details (traffic data, logs, resources accessed), device information (device identifiers, IP address, operating system, browser type), stored files and metadata on your device, and real-time or historic location information.

The main technology behind this is cookies — small files placed on your device. You can refuse cookies through your device settings, though some parts of the Service may then be inaccessible.

Certain third parties — application providers, content providers, analytics and advertisement companies — may also use their own tracking technologies when you use the Service, building a picture of your activity across sites to serve interest-based advertising. We don't control these third parties' technologies; if you have questions about a specific ad or piece of targeted content, contact the responsible provider directly.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect, including personal information, to provide and improve the Service, carry out our contractual obligations (including billing and collection), notify you of updates, support research relating to images, data, and metadata about animals, and let you take part in interactive features.

Usage information specifically helps us estimate audience size, remember your preferences, speed up searches, and recognize you when you return to the Service.

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
  • Carry out our contractual obligations, including billing and collection
  • Notify you of updates or changes to the Service
  • Support research relating to images, data, and metadata about animals
  • Analyze usage trends and evaluate our promotional campaigns
  • Evaluate or carry out a merger, divestiture, or sale of company assets

Disclosure of Your Information

We may disclose aggregated or de-identified information about our users without restriction. We may also disclose personal information you provide or that we collect in the situations below.

  • To our subsidiaries and affiliates
  • To contractors and service providers bound to keep it confidential and use it only for the purpose we disclose it
  • To a buyer or successor in a merger, sale, or similar transaction
  • To fulfil the purpose you provided it for, or with your consent
  • To comply with a court order, law, or legal process, or a government request
  • To enforce our rights under any contract with you, including for billing and collection
  • If we believe it's necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of WildTrack

Your Choices and Data Protection Rights

You can set your browser to refuse cookies, or alert you when they're sent — though some parts of the Service may stop working properly if you do. You can also control whether the Service uses your device's real-time location through your device's privacy settings.

We do not collect or respond to "Do Not Track" browser signals; our websites behave the same regardless of that setting.

If you make a request below, we have one month to respond — email us at info@wildtrack.org to get started.

  • Request copies of your personal information
  • Ask us to correct or complete inaccurate or incomplete information
  • Ask us to erase your personal information
  • Ask us to restrict how we process your personal information
  • Ask us to transfer your data directly to you

Data Security, Retention, and Storage

We've implemented measures designed to secure your personal information from accidental loss and from unauthorized access, use, alteration, or disclosure. If we've given you a password, you're responsible for keeping it confidential — please don't share it with anyone. No transmission over the internet is completely secure, so any transmission of personal information is at your own risk.

We retain your personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes in this policy, unless the law requires longer — for example to resolve disputes or comply with a legal obligation. Usage data is generally retained for a shorter period, unless it's needed for security, functionality, or a legal requirement.

Your information may be held and processed in the United States, which may not have the same data protection laws as your home country. If you're in the European Economic Area (EEA), transfers outside the EEA are covered by standard data protection contract clauses approved by the European Commission. Contact us at info@wildtrack.org for more detail.

Information About Minors

The Service isn't intended for children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If we learn we've collected information from a child under 16 without verified parental consent, we'll delete it. If you believe we might have information from or about a child under 16, contact us at info@wildtrack.org.

Your California Privacy Rights

This section applies to California residents ("consumers") and uses the terms defined in the California Consumer Privacy Act ("CCPA") and its regulations.

We do not, and will not, sell your Personal Information to any third party, or share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes. We collect Personal Information — the same categories listed under Information We Collect above, plus California customer records under Civil Code § 1798.80 — when you use, visit, or participate in the Service.

Over the past 12 months, you can ask us for the categories of Personal Information we collected, where it came from, why we collected or sold it, who we shared it with, and a copy of what we hold on you — or ask us to delete it. Email info@wildtrack.org with your full name, address, phone number, and any affiliation so we can verify your identity; an authorized agent can submit a request on your behalf with the right documentation.

We won't discriminate against you for exercising these rights — no denial of goods or services, no different pricing or quality, and no suggestion that you'd be treated differently. If you need this policy in a different format for accessibility, or want the annual "Shine the Light" disclosure of third parties we've shared data with for direct marketing, that same email gets you there.

Rights Under Other State Laws

Nevada residents can submit a sale opt-out request under Nevada Revised Statutes Chapter 603A to info@wildtrack.org, though we don't currently sell data that triggers that law.

Virginia residents have rights under the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act (VCDPA) to confirm whether we're processing your personal information, access or receive a portable copy of it, correct inaccuracies, delete it, and opt out of targeted advertising, sale, or profiling with a legal or similarly significant effect. Submit a request to info@wildtrack.org.

We comply with all other applicable state-specific privacy laws, which may give you further rights beyond what's listed here.

Your Rights Under the GDPR

If you're in the EEA or UK, we process your Personal Data on one of these legal bases: your consent, the performance of a contract with you, a legal obligation we're subject to, protecting vital interests, a task carried out in the public interest, or our legitimate interests. We're happy to clarify which basis applies to any specific processing.

You have the right to access a copy of your Personal Data, correct mistakes in it, object to or restrict its processing, request its erasure, receive it in a portable format, and withdraw consent at any time (though withdrawing may limit some features we can offer you). To exercise any of these, contact us directly — we may ask you to verify your identity first, and we'll respond as quickly as we can.

You can also lodge a complaint with the data protection supervisory authority where you live or work, or where you believe an infringement occurred.

Changes to This Policy, and How to Reach Us

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes to how we treat your personal information, we'll post the updated policy on the Service with a notice that it's changed.

To ask a question or raise a concern about this Privacy Policy or our privacy practices, email us at info@wildtrack.org.
